Silat Beksi interview

We talked with Silat Beksi due to his production soon to be released on the Hungarian Juuz Records, who will have its very first vinyl press. Silat’s music is very popular in our small country too.

You started experimenting with music at a very young age. Can you share some early memories? When did you realize that it has become more than a hobby?

I’ve always been passionate about making music. I tried to play with all the musical instruments I had. But started to produce music only when I got a PC. It took years to find my favorite sequencer and learn the craft.

You have tracks that you have admittedly addressed to some special loved ones. In which ways can they inspire you?

One of the most special releases was „Anna” EP dedicated to my wife and best friend, even better to say „soulmate”. She always inspires me, makes me better and fills my life with valuable moments.

Also, I dedicated another release „DNA” EP to my close friend, who cannot imagine her life without music, plunging deeply into sounds, resonating with them at the same frequencies.

What other sources do you draw inspiration for your music from?

To be honest, I always feel inspired. Better to say that I may not feel good when I am not making music.

There is only one conclusion – do what you love, it will fulfil you and carry you in the stream.

What do you think about the issue of consistency and variety?

If consistency is about good habits or good deeds, then that’s great! But human life is a change of day and night, times of the year, the circumstances in which we live. Depending on experience and knowledge, we change our vector of movement, change our habits and social circle. It’s very important for us because these components shape us as a person. New experience opens up the boundaries in knowing yourself. In music, everything is exactly the same, variety allows us to look beyond our usual limits, helping to touch these new facets, making our life unique and multifaceted.

Unfortunately, the last year has not been gracious to us in terms of party life. What do you miss most about this?

In fact, mostly I missed live communication, handshakes and simple freedom of action. In all other respects, I am grateful for the new experience I have received over this last year.

You have had gigs in lots of different countries. Tell us a bit about the Ukrainian parties. What makes it different from the others?

I can’t say that in terms of club life, Ukraine is very different from any other. We have the same parties, the same party people which want to dance all night long. The difference is only in mentality, each country has its own peculiarity, which is a very cool thing.

How do you manage to survive this period, how does this affect your creative activity?

Everything is going well enough! The new conditions entailed new earning opportunities, cooperation with Samplemarket company as well as work as a mastering engineer for digital labels, and of course studio work.

Do you have any special plans for this year?

In connection with the current situation, no one knows what to expect in the next six months, so I am not making plans. It will be faithful to continue working on new material and to prepare new records for releasing.

What was the last music you listened to that gave you goosebumps?

Pure pleasure:
